CRITICS ABOUT IYANYA'S NEW SONG....

The Kukere master — Iyanya‘s second album ’Iyanya Vs Desire‘ was very successful; and drove nightclubs in Nigeria and all over the world crazy with various club hit singles.

However, Iyanya might have started the new year — 2014 on a bad note as in an attempt to topple his last effort, the Pop star seems to be going down the wrong road.

His late last year released single ’Le kwa ukwu‘ sounds like it was forced and now critics reviewed his latest official second single ‘Away‘ and say the song sounds even worse and totally wack.

Critics say that the ‘Away‘ concept steals from ‘Le kwa ukwu‘ and then producer MasterKraft lazily samples the rhythmic progression from a previous production (Banky W‘s ‘Jasi‘).

They further trash Iyanya even more with this — An advice: Stop wasting time forcing yourself, trying to recreate the previous sounds and be more creative (we won’t even bother if your lyrics don’t make sense). And there’s always DeeTunes you can go back to…

If you haven’t heard the song yet, go and find it and listen; no be my mouth you go hear say coke bottle no full!!

HIGH COURT EXPLODES IN RIVERS STATE

A High Court in Ahoada East LGA of Rivers State was bombed this morning Monday January 6th, according to reports from the state.

The Will Nigeria reports

The bombing of the court where Justice Charles N. Wali usually holds court, reportedly occurred on Monday morning a few hours before a politically charged suit against Hon Evans Bipi, a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly and leader of a group of 6 lawmakers, who has been unlawfully parading himself as the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

Justice Wali had about a month ago ordered Bipi to stop parading himself as Speaker of the House as the tussle over control of the state government between loyalists of the Presidency and the Rivers Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, lingers with an end in sight. TRIPLETS GRADUATE TOP OF THEIR CLASS

Graduating magna cum laude is a fete worth celebrating all its own, but what about when three sisters do it at the same damn time?! That’s exactly what happened with these impressive triplets, Bre’Andria, Cre’Andria and Dre’Andria Thompson! These beautiful look-alikes graduated top of their class with BS degrees in Chemistry from Norfolk State University’s Dozoretz National Institute for Mathematics and Applied Sciences.

Dr. Aliecia McClain, DNIMAS program director, has watched the sisters grow. “Upon their arrival at NSU it was very difficult to tell them apart. Because we could not identify them by their names, we identified them as a group even though they were completely different individuals,” she said. “They have grown into individuals proving to others and themselves that they are worthy of the distinction of being called Dozoretz Scholars.”

The ladies are over-the-moon about their accomplishment, “Thanks to God and the supportive faculty and students here, I have surpassed challenges that I never thought I would overcome,” said Dre’.

Bre’ says, “My professors and my courses have allowed me to think critically and apply the concepts I have learned to the world around me.”

“They have equipped me with an educational foundation that will allow me to be a competitive candidate for graduate or professional school anywhere,” said Cre’.

MINISTER OF AVIATION IN FRESH MESS

Did embattled Minister of Aviation, Ms. Stella Oduah, deliberately pad up her educational qualifications or is she the victim of high-wired orchestrated moves to remove her office? This and many more will be the question on the lips of many as her integrity has come under public scrutiny once again following the denial by a United States school which supposedly awarded

ISRAELI POLICE ARREST NUDE AFRICAN MIGRANT

The insult Africans are facing in Diaspora has gone beyond what any man could take again AFP captures a unclad African female migrant described as a prostitute in a series of raids by Israel’s immigration police aimed at rounding up and deporting illegal African immigrants. The scene was recorded on Tuesday near Levinsky Park, in the Mediterranean city of Tel Aviv, where thousands of migrants reside.
The question levitated at all nooks and crannies is WHY WASN’T THE WOMAN ALLOWED TO COVER HERSELF?
Some days ago it was also said that a Nigerian was shot dead for stealing, and when the body was being checked after several days, it was found out that he had stitches all over, and most of his organs were gone. But has this stopped the embassies in Nigeria from getting loaded with people that just want to leave the country for a ‘better life’ as we always say?

UNN'S JAC AIMED AT ENEJERE'S REMOVAL WANTS FG TO SET UP PANEL OF ENQUIRY

As the demand for the immediate removal of the Vice Chancellor, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Professor Bartho Okolo, and reinstatement of the pro-chancellor, Dr. Emeka Enejere, gets messier, the Joint Action Committee of the institution has called on the Federal Government to set up panel of inquiry to look into the crisis in the university.

ASUU chairperson and chairman of JAC, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, chapter, Dr. Ifeanyi Abada, announced this in a prayer rally held at the freedom square of the university yesterday, explaining that illegality and criminal tendencies had taken the centre stage of the university administration since the inception of Prof. Bartho Okolo as the vice chancellor.

Dr. Abada said JAC comprises ASUU, SSANU, NASU and NAT, adding that they all demanded the express removal of the vice chancellor.

He said the Federal Government should as a matter of urgency and necessity set up a panel of inquiry to stop the illegal internal deduction and refund such money to members of staff.

The JAC chairman explained that they were not only protesting the removal of the vice chancellor but also demanded the immediate recall of all staff of the institution on suspension for the past two years on the orders of the vice chancellor, explaining that the committee also demanded a total stoppage of deductions of electricity bills for staff on campus.

Counting the many faults of Prof. Okolo as vice chancellor of the university, the committee requested for the lifting of ban on promotion of security staff of the institution for the past five years.

Dr. Abada, who was in company of SSANU Chairman Comrade Paul Obododike and his NASU counterpart, Mr. Godfrey Ugwu, called for the implementation of Consolidated Tertiary Institutions Salary Structure, CONTISS II, and implementation of the recommendations of the university council petitions and appeals committee.

Dr. Abada also noted that the prayer rally of JAC would continue until the Federal Government looked into the demands.

NIGERIAN POLICE DISTORTED THE ARREST OF LLOYD,says GOVERNMENT...

The Rivers State Government has reacted to the allegations made by the Police concerning the arrest of Chidi Lloyd, Leader of House of Assembly over the suspected murder of Police Sgt. Urang Obediah and Mr. Kingsley Ejeuo, said to be his kinsman and ‘political opponent’.
Mr. David Iyorfor, press secretary to Governor Rotimi Amaechi, said the Rivers State police command had released a completely distorted and untrue account of the circumstances surrounding the arrest of the Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Chidi Lloyd on 2 January 2014.
Iyofor said Governor Rotimi Amaechi, no longer has a private jet, contrary to the statement by the Rivers Police Command that Lloyd wanted to escape in the Governor’s private jet.

Chidi lloyd: Police offer distorted information

Iyofor also added that Lloyd was nowhere near the plane that took the governor from Port Harcourt to Abuja.
“Governor Amaechi was about to leave for Abuja when he was informed that the Rivers State Police Commissioner Mbu Joseph Mbu had ordered that the plane(which is not the governor’s private jet, as claimed by the police) cannot leave Port Harcourt because Hon. Lloyd was in the plane and about to ‘escape’ with Governor Amaechi”.
The Governor was shocked, Iyofor said.
According to Nyofor, Governor Amaechi made several calls to CP Mbu Joseph Mbu, but none was answered.
But CP Mbu later showed up and when the governor asked him about the order to stop him from travelling, he denied giving such an order.
“Governor Amaechi put it to him that he(Mbu) came to search the plane for Chidi Llyod and told him to go ahead and search the plane. Mbu continued talking endlessly, showing absolutely no respect or regard for the office of the Governor of Rivers State who is the Chief Security Officer of the State.
“Governor Amaechi then called the Inspector-General(IG) of Police; While the governor was speaking with the IG on phone, CP Mbu was shouting at the governor, on top of his voice, trying to disrupt the conversation between the Governor and the IG to the shock and disbelief of those that were there.”
The statement went further to explain that when Governor Amaechi arrived Abuja later in the evening of yesterday, he was informed that Chidi Lloyd was arrested in his house in the presence of his family and lawyer,Emenike Ebete at about 3.30pm.
Ebete also confirmed that Lloyd was arrested in his house and at no time was the lawmaker attempting to escape with the Governor.
Ebete explained that it was not the lawmaker who was driving the car that killed the Sgt.Urang Obediah and Kingsley Ejeuo, but that Lloyd was very sick and was sitting at the back seat of the car when the accident happened on the East-West road near Emohua Local Government Secretariat, Emohua.
The Lawyer said what happened was a mere accident but the Police have added a political coloration to the whole incident and lies to discredict Llyod.
He said Kingsley Ejeuo was never a political opponent of Lloyd. He said even the family of the late Ejeuo has been reacting to the allegation that their late relation was a political opponent of the Lawmaker.
However,Jerry Needam, the Special Adviser to the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, insisted that the late Ejeuo was a member of PDP and a political opponent of Lloyd who has resisted defecting to All Progressives Congress,APC.
The Police had in a statement by the Rivers Police Command last night said Lloyd was arrested while attempting to escape through the Airforce Base in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
According to the Police statement, said “Hon. Chidi Lloyd on 30/12/2013 while pursing his political opponent he knocked down Sgt. Urang Obediah, in spite of his effort to stop him, rammed and killed him and went ahead to crush the Passat car of Mr. Kingsley Ejeuo was driving and killed him”.
The Police further said “Initially the Police thought that it was a mere accident which ought to have been a manslaughter. The Commissioner of Police directed ACP. Aliyu Garba, the Area Commander Metro to visit him in his hospital bed and commiserate with him, conscious of what he did, Chidi Lloyd relocated to another hospital.
“ When facts emerged that Chidi Lloyd drove a bullet proof vehicle while pursuing his political opponent, late Mr. Kingsley Ejeuo whom he knocked down. He hailed from the same place with the lawmaker from Emohua and is believed to belong to the PDP camp led by Elder Felix Obuah,”, said Ahmad Muhammad, the police spokesman.
According the Police statement Sgt. Urang Obediah died on the spot after Lloyd rammed his bullet proof car into late Mr. Kingsley Ejeuo Passat car.
Police said Lloyd sneaked through the hospital’s back door while being guarded by four policemen on his hospital bed and escaped only to be arrested on his way to the Airforce Base in the convoy of three tinted bullet proof jeeps in his bid to flee from the long arms of the law.
Lloyd, who is facing a six-count charge of conspiracy and attempted murder before a Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, was granted bail, in August last year in the sum of N40 million.
The presiding judge, Justice Latan Nyordee, in his ruling, admitted Lloyd to bail in the sum of N10million and three sureties in like sum.

APC POLITICS....SHEKARAU'S SUPPORTERS PLEDGE THEIR LOYALTY TO KWANKWASO

The absence of immediate past governor of Kano state, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau in Kano Government House on Friday when the stakeholders of the defunct All Nigerian Peoples Party, ANPP, paid Governor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso a solidarity visit may be an indication that the proposed reconciliation between Shekarau and Kwankwaso may have hit the rocks.
Yesterday, stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, led by Ambassador Aminu Wali and Mohammed Abacha, son of the late maximum ruler, Sani Abacha, paid similar visit to Shekarau in his Kano residence on Thursday wooing him to join the party.
Malam Shekarau who has consistently protested the arrangement by the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress that gives more prominence to newcomer Governor Kwankwaso, has openly registered his anger over what he described as systematic marginalization of himself and political associates since the merger arrangement commenced.
Ibrahim Shekarau, ex- Kano State governor: not happy with Kwankwaso's dominance of APC affairs
Ibrahim Shekarau, ex- Kano State governor: not happy with Kwankwaso’s dominance of APC affairs

P.M.NEWS also learnt that the former Kano governor whose political rivalry with Kwankwaso started in 2001 is not comfortable with the dominant influence of the Kwankwassiyya Movement in Kano APC, a situation which he believes will make him redundant in the running of party affairs in the state.
Politicians at it again, this time its the ACTION PEOPLES' CONGRESS(APC)....
According to one of Shekarau’s political associates, the Shekarau camp is worried that, “after spending time and resources to establish the foundation of APC, Malam Shekarau all of a sudden has been reduced to nothing by enemies of democracy. We will not accept it because it is against the tenets of democracy and justice.
“Right now, what we hear in Kano is the Kwankwasiyya APC. We know Kwankwaso and his political antecedents. If something is not done fast, he will hijack the APC structure in Kano and this will not augur well for the party. We are the old APC; our interest must be protected—somebody can not emerge from somewhere and dictate what happens in a party that we have labored to build.”
Among those who visited Government House to recognize Governor Kwankwaso as the authentic leader of APC in Kano include Senator Ibrahim Kabiru Gaya, presidential candidate of the defunct National Republican Convention, NRC, Alhaji Bashir Tofa, former state secretary of defunct ANPP, Malam Rabi’u Bako, former Permanent Secretary, Special Services, Malam Ibrahim Kankorofi, former ANPP governorship aspirant, Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil, Alhaji Barau Jubril and three Commissioners under Shekarau, Ibrahim Garba, Haruna Dederi and Garba Yusuf.
P.M.NEWS observed that many of Shekarau’s associates were at the meeting excluding ANPP’s governorship candidate in 2011, Abdullahi Salihu Sagir Takai who Kwankwaso defeated at the governorship polls.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Senator Kabiru Gaya insisted that by APC’s Constitution, Governor Kwankwaso remains the leader of the party in Kano, adding that every other member or stakeholder has the obligation to declare loyalty to Governor Kwankwaso and work with him for the interest of the party in the state.
Responding to his visitors, Governor Kwankwaso expressed happiness that at last, they have decided to come closer and give their own contribution to the development of Kano and the party, APC, pointing out that his desire was to ensure that Kano and indeed, the country at large get good and responsible leadership.
Governor Kwankwaso further noted that he left the PDP to join the party of the progressives because undemocratic elements in the PDP had broken the umbrella and left men of good conscience with the progressive spirit under the rain.
According to Kwankwaso, since the umbrella had been destroyed and shattered, people like him who has the interest of Nigeria and Nigerians at heart sought for a better platform to give responsible leadership to the people.
He urged his visitors to leave above board just as he advised them to remove personal interest ant put the interest of the party foremost as he assured that come 2015, victory would be sure for the APC both in Kano and the government at the centre.
Pundits however, believe that with the visit of those known to be Shekarau’s close political associates to Kwankwaso, all may not be well in the camp of Shekarau who many believe may settle for the PDP soonest.
But according to Malam Sule Ya’u Sule, the image maker of Malam Shekarau, the former ANPP Presidential candidate has decided to remain mute until the reconciliation committee set up by the national leadership of the APC completes its assignment.

"Timaya sees me as a threat that's why he doesn't want to collaborate with me" - Oriste Femi

You all know Oritse Femi who sang the hit track"Mercies of the Lord" among several others .Here is what he said during an interview with Vanguard
Talking about Timaya, he is a good friend and right from time, Timaya has always seen me as a competitor. You know sometimes, someone can be your friend and still feels you are the only problem he has. The last time that I called him that we should do a song together, he said we are going to do it but he kept postponing it because he sees me as a threat. He doesn’t want a situation whereby people will be comparing us.  Timaya is a good artiste and he has his own energy and he keeps doing what he knows how to do best but to me, I don’t see him as a challenger. I can compete with any artiste in the world.
What was the first fee you got as an artiste?
My first money is small; N5million. And five million naira then is 50 million naira now.It was in cheque because the people that gave me the money knew I have never handled such amount before and they didn’t want to cause problem. When I saw the cheque, I was stupefied, speechless and continued staring at it as if it were a dream.  I wasn’t too sure but when I saw the money in front of the cashier men! I was like wow, and from there the inspiration rose and that should be around 2004/2005

“It is encouraging that the salary arrears have been paid to members, and I believe this cuts across board.

Ajiboye expressed optimistic that government would not go back on the agreement

    NUPENG ADAMANT ABOUT STRIKE

    NUPENG
The Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) says it has not shelved its proposed plans to go on strike over the planned sale of the country’s refineries.
A statement from the President of NUPENG, Igwe Achese, on Wednesday in Lagos, said the union’s position was still that the decision to privatise the four refineries was hastily taken.
It said it would therefore still be resisted by NUPENG.
“The attention of the union was drawn to some stories that NUPENG has suspended the strike. The union states that the report is erroneous and full of distortions of facts,” the statement said.
It added that NUPENG members in NNPC and its subsidiaries had however embarked on daily prayer sessions, calling for God’s intervention.
The statement quoted Achese as calling “NUPENG members to intensify on the prayer sessions, which is a prelude to the nationwide strike coming up this week’’.
It added that the meeting scheduled by the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Emeka Wogu, would be futile if the Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Alison-Madueke, was not involved.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that NUPENG and PENGASSAN in December 2013 had threatened to embark on strike in January.
The two unions had said this would be if the Federal Government failed to reverse its decision to privatise the country’s four refineries.

THE DELTA STATE GOVERNOR NAMED 'VANGUARD MAN OF THE YEAR'

    Uduaghan
Vanguard Newspapers has voted Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan as its Man of the Year for 2013.
Announcing its decision, Vanguard’s Board of Editors extolled Uduaghan’s “visionary steps in governance,” especially the “Delta Beyond Oil which is encapsulated in the three cardinal philosophy that form the hallmark of his administration – human capital development, infrastructure development and peace and security”.
Vanguard also highlighted the governor’s boost to education infrastructure evidenced in the inauguration of 13 model secondary schools and 54 model primary schools as well as the N5 million per year post-graduate scholarship programme for first class graduates in any institution anywhere in the world, as some of the outstanding bright spots in Nigeria’s quest for quality education.
Vanguard also noted that Uduaghan put his profession as a medical doctor to good use as he instituted the legacy policy on maternal and child care that picks and pays for a baby’s total wellbeing from conception to the age of five.
“This has had profound impact on infant mortality rate in the state which crashed from 545 deaths in 100,000 births at the time he took over as governor in 2007 to 241 deaths in 100,000 births in 2012 which is by far the lowest rate in the country.”
Alongside the micro-credit scheme that has empowered over 100,000 people and the Delta Beyond Oil initiative, Vanguard stated the Uduaghan administration is positioning the state “outside the perimeters of the shock from fluctuating oil revenue.”
“We are glad that despite his philosophy of working quietly without recourse to media frenzy, Governor Uduaghan’s giant strides towards enthroning sustainable development in Delta State is being nationally and globally acknowledged,” the state government said in a statement.
Being earlier recognised as Man of the Year by three Nigerian newspapers; Nigerian Pilot, Leadership and The Sun lays credence to the good works of Governor Uduaghan and is an indication Vanguard made the right choice.
